The girl who inspired – Hermione Granger
Character Name: Hermione Granger

Last Appearance: Harry Potter and the cursed child
The girl who inspired – Hermione Granger: Hermione Granger is a young witch, a student of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. She is a best friend of the main lead Harry Potter. She, Ron Weasley (a fellow student and best friend of Harry Potter)and Harry Potter are famously called as “Golden trio”. Hermione is one of a multiplex character in Harry potter series. She is brave, intelligent and stands up and fights for the cause she believes in. She is fiercely loyal to her friends and it’s shown throughout the series. To top it all off, she is a bookworm and self confident. Being a teenager, Hermione doesn’t come out as shallow…she gives less importance to materialistic comforts and outer beauty. These qualities of her have immensely inspired me.
In the beginning of the series, she is a rule follower, but in later in the series you get to see a Hermione who is ready to break the rules if it makes things right.
“We could be killed, or worse, expelled”
Her character growth is astounding. When she is first introduced in the series, she comes off as a bossy, Know it all, over excited girl. She can be a bit annoying in the initial stages. But her true traits and personalities are understood properly once she befriends Harry and Ron.
On front the girl is a know it all, brave but inside her there is part which is insecure of failures. The girl has I told earlier is complex. She is imperfect but her flaws make her more realistic. I mean a teenage girl is bound to have some sort of insecurities otherwise she would have never inspired anyone. Despite having the flaws, she doesn’t show it all the time. Hermione is a comfort blanket for Harry and Ron. It’s Harry and Ron who needs her helps most of the time than Hermione turning to them and asking help. Her independent nature did a number on me. She is not only extremely helpful, she is also compassionate. She is quick to help the defenseless like Neville Longbottom, Elves and many more.
The character “Hermione Granger” has been considered as a Feministic Icon.
The best quality of her is she is steady and focused. It’s hard for anyone to deter her once she has made up her mind. There comes a situation when she has to choose between Harry and Ron – She has to choose between her best friend the one who is fighting to bring down the most powerful Wizard and on the other side there is a boy whom she loves. She chooses friendship over her love. She chooses the right thing. This decision only solidified my adoration for Hermione. She being a teenager could have walked on the easier path by choosing an easier choice and made her life easier, but she doesn’t do that. She is the girl who doesn’t believe in easier choices…she believes in right choices.
She is one of the greatest heroes our literary world ever got and it’s no surprise she influenced more people than the titular character.
I owe J K Rowling for bring a character to life who makes the reader to be a better person.
